San Diego, CA, March 27—On April 3-6, Sally Ride Science will participate in the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) annual national conference, to be held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, MA. More than 300 exhibiting organizations and nearly 10,000 attendees are expected at what is often considered to be one of the largest events in STEM education.
The Sally Ride Science booth (#1151) will feature book giveaways and discounts on professional development with the Sally Ride Online Academy, demos of new eBooks, and information on the new “All Access” school site license offerings that bring all of the Company’s training and classroom resources together for one low price.
Sally Ride Science teachers-in-residence will also be leading a presentation on Sally Ride EarthKAM—a NASA supported program that lets students take photographs of Earth from the unique perspective of space. Educators attending this session will learn the history of this pioneering program, from its creation in 1995 by Dr. Ride through its latest mission in the fall of 2013. Educators will also learn how EarthKAM images (of which there are more than 60,000, all taken by students) can be used in their STEM lesson plans.

The Company also plans to use the NSTA Conference to recruit STEM professionals—teachers, other exhibitors, and presenters—to take part in Sally Ride Career Cues, a free searchable web site of videos that will let students learn about STEM careers right from the people who work in them every day. STEM professionals who want to ‘star’ in these videos can record their videos at the booth, or register to submit videos at a later time.”
In April, Sally Ride Science will also be presenting at the Education Innovation Summit at Arizona State University (April 21-23), exhibiting and participating in panel discussions at the U.S. News STEM Solutions Conference in Washington D.C. (April 23-25), and exhibiting and offering a one-day professional development to educators at the USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington D.C. (April 25-27).
