Arctic Mammals: Science, Culture + Art
The high Arctic is home to bizarre and intriguing animals that have had to adapt to living in a constantly shifting icy landscape. This class takes a deep dive into marine mammal ecology by introducing students to bioacoustics, the interpretation of animal noises and underwater soundscapes. Then we will explore Inuit culture, from ancient hunters to modern Inuk female ice divers. Students will also sculpt and paint animals and ice-floe scenes from the ever-changing top of the world.
