Nature is putting on a dramatic show on Hawaii’s Big Island. Kilauea volcano is heaving boulders skyward and pouring lava into nearby neighborhoods. Wonder what’s behind the commotion? In the free Saturday workshop “Fire and Ice,” middle school students will explore fiery and freezing natural phenomena. They’ll play games and share fun facts to discover why volcanoes erupt and how icebergs form. The workshop, June 9 at Linda Vista Library, is part of Library Next, a partnership between San Diego Public Library and UC San Diego Extension Pre-College Programs.
